Foods That Stain Your Teeth

Did you know that tea can stain your teeth even more than coffee? Many other foods can cause tooth staining, including deeply colored sauces like tomato and curry, highly-acidic sports and energy drinks, red wine, cola, dark berries, artificially colored candy and many others.

At Reed Puelicher, D.D.S we recommend that you rinse your mouth with water after consuming any of these stain causing food, or use a straw to sip sodas and iced tea. Please call us at (530) 671-2610 if you have any questions about foods and your dental health.

Finding the Perfect Toothpaste

From whitening to ultra-sensitive, there are a multitude of toothpastes available on today's market. How do you choose? Start by selecting one with fluoride, which will prevent cavities. Other things to consider are flavor, whitening potential, tartar control and price. Often the biggest difference between two brands is packaging, so don't get hung up on the finer details. Consider selecting fun flavored toothpaste for children, as it will encourage them to brush regularly.

Very young children require a fluoride-free variety for safety. Call us at (530) 671-2610 and Dr. Reed Puelicher will be happy to recommend a toothpaste that’s right for your family.

Don’t Lose Your Dental Insurance Benefits

Almost all insurance companies renew your dental benefits with the New Year. That means that you can take advantage of possibly $1,000 or more of benefits for yourself and your family before the year's ends.

These benefits, often part of your employer's insurance program, are typically lost if not used. Please do not wait for the end of the year to take advantage of your dental insurance benefits, when our congested schedule at Reed Puelicher, D.D.S may make it difficult to accommodate you at a convenient time for your own schedule. Call today at (530) 671-2610 to ensure your best health - particularly if you're due for your regular check-up and cleaning!
